The more fruits, mutations, or rare event plants you collect, the more in-game currency (Sheckles) or rewards you can earn, which allows you to expand plots, upgrade your garden, buy new seeds, and prepare for harder growth challenges or boss/event waves. The game also gives free event crates periodically every few hours, uses a “friend boost” system, and has a gifting / share system. As of now, there are (no / some) active codes (promo codes) for Grow a Garden, depending on the event status. “Evo Plants” are a part of the Seed Stages / Seasonal Quest in Grow a Garden, where you have to evolve and grow special plant stages scattered across different updates. After completing all plant evolutions, return to the respective NPC or quest giver in the event area to confirm completion. The NPC text will confirm success.

Core Mechanics & Progression

[edit]
  1. Seed Growth, Harvesting & Mutations
    • Seeds grow into plants/fruit over time. There are “evolution” stages or Evo Plants that allow a plant to evolve if certain criteria are met.[2]
    • Mutations are special modifiers applied to fruits/plants (size bonus, variant bonus, “mutation types” like Cloudtouched, Gold, etc.) which affect their value or growth. Pets often help trigger or boost these.
  2. Offline & Idle Elements
    • Plants continue growing (or progress accrues) even when you are offline (“idle”). Growth timers don’t stop just because you logged out.
    • But active care is required: watering, weeding, harvesting on time etc. If you ignore the plant past certain thresholds (e.g. letting weeds or dryness build up), plants can die.[3]
  3. Garden Plot Expansions
    • You can expand your garden plot:
      • Side expansions (costs in Sheckles, etc.): add width (left/right).
      • Rear expansions: adding extra rows. Some unlocks require time or expenditure (Robux) to skip wait.
  4. “Grow All” & Time Skips
    • There’s a “Grow All” feature where for a Robux cost you can skip 24 hours of growth time for all your crops/fruits in the garden. Useful for long-growth plants.
    • Sometimes certain huge plants don't fully complete growth using “Grow All” if their natural growth time exceea ds what the skip covers.
  5. Stealing / Player vs Player Interaction
    • You can steal crops from other players’ gardens at a cost (Robux). So there’s PvP‐like interaction in that sense.[4]
    • Some pets or abilities help reduce risk or let you duplicate crops etc.

Pets, Tiers, & Abilities

[edit]

Pets are a major depth feature. They provide passive bonuses, mutation boosts, better yield, growth speed etc. They vary by rarity, how you obtain them, and how beneficial they are. Here are key points:

Rarity Levels How to Get Them What They Do / Examples
Common / Uncommon Basic eggs, sometimes events or shops E.g. Bunny (Common) — eats a carrot and sells it at a value bonus; Seagull, Dog etc.[5]
Rare Higher tier eggs / limited events / special chest drops E.g. Hedgehog (prickly fruits size bonus), Kiwi, etc.
Legendary / Mythical / Divine / Prismatic Rare eggs, premium eggs, event rewards Some give big passive buffs, special mutation triggers, bonus growth speed, etc. Examples: Grey Mouse (bonus XP + speed), Iguanadon (experience boost for dinosaur pets), Space Squirrel, Swan, Phoenix among Divine pets.

Examples of Pet Effects

[edit]
  • Hedgehog (Rare): Gives a size bonus (~1.5×) to “prickly” fruits (like cactus, durian, pineapple etc.) within some radius.
  • Grey Mouse (Mythical): Every 10 minutes gives bonus XP; also adds player movement speed.
  • Cow (Legendary): Mooing effect: boosts growth for certain types of crops (e.g. dairy) highly, and a smaller growth boost for others.
  • Polar Bear (Legendary): Occasionally causes a “blizzard” with chance to freeze nearby crops.

Mutations & Pets

[edit]
  • Some pets help by triggering mutations or increasing the chance for them (e.g. Gold mutation, variant bonuses, etc.)
  • Mutations affect plants by making them more valuable, faster growth, larger, or changing other yield‐related stats.

Events, Updates, & Seasonal Mechanics

[edit]
  • Seed Stages update: Adds evolution / progression stages for plants. Players need to meet certain criteria as seeds evolve.
  • Zen update: Introduces tranquil/meditative theme, new cosmetics, new pets (mutation pets).
  • Skyroot Chest (Beanstalk Update): Adds new chest items including unique seeds and pets.[6]
  • Seasonal / limited events bring special pets or eggs that are only available for a short time (e.g. “Jungle Egg”, Fall Market, etc.).

Challenges, Strategy Tips, & What to Watch Out For

[edit]
  1. Time/attention management: Plants can die if you forget to water or remove weeds for too long. There’s some grace period but missing that leads to loss. So logging in regularly (or setting reminders) helps.
  2. Pet selection matters: Choose pets that synergize with the kind of seeds/plants you're focusing on (e.g. if you grow a lot of prickly fruits, get pets boosting that; if mutation bonuses are helpful, get pets helping mutation).
  3. Plot expansions are expensive: Large cost in in-game currency (Sheckles) or Robux. Expanding too early without having high yield plants might be inefficient.
  4. Robux / monetization impact: Features like Grow All, stealing from others, time skips, buying plot expansions with Robux are monetization levers. If you want to play without spending, you might need to plan more so you avoid waste.
  5. Limited availability pets / eggs: Some pets are only available during events or via special eggs. Missing those windows might mean you can’t get certain pets later (or only via trading).
